Album featuring the following galleries:
I enjoy creating street photography images whilst overseas or when at home in the UK and my home city of Brighton.
I like to incorporate a variety of techniques into my street photographs when appropriate.
This might include using dynamic elements such as motion blur, abstraction, or the use of wide angle lenses to alter perspective.
Street photography is about capturing a unique and non-repeatable moment in time. This was first and famously defined as “The Decisive Moment” by Henri Cartier-Bresson. I am always looking for that decisive moment!
Social Documentary Photography
I am especially interested in social documentary photography and photographing people going about their daily lives.
What is the difference between street and documentary photography?
Street photography is an image that captures a unique moment in time.
Whereas social documentary photography is an image or series of images that tell a story.
Where possible I like to capture an image or series of images that tell a story.
I think it is fair to say that street photography and social documentary photography are, or at least can be, complimentary genres. Some of my images straddle both genres. My galleries in this album represent both genres and the layers of fusion between them. I am always looking out for opportunities to tell a story through my images. I will write a blog post to further explain my reasoning and thoughts on this topic soon.
